Behavioral Intervention Team

South Texas College endeavors to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for students and employees.  When an individual exhibits suicidal or self-injurious threats or behaviors, or behavior that is threatening to others, it is disruptive to the mission of the College.  To ensure the safety of the College community, the College instituted the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).

The mission of the BIT is to assess circumstances, enhance communication, and initiate appropriate responses to specific behavioral problems of students and employees that pose potential threats to themselves or to the safety and security of the College community.

The BIT meets weekly to review reports and determine if there is a threat to the College community.  The team will also meet as needed in emergency situations requiring immediate response.
