Academic Improvement Plan

Counseling and Student Accessibility Services Academic Improvement Plan is designed for students who have been placed on Academic Suspension because of unsatisfactory academic progress at South Texas College. South Texas College’s Academic Standards Policy requires that students maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 to remain in Good Academic Standing. As a result of the Academic Status, a registration “Hold” has been placed on the academic record which does not allow students to register and make schedule changes for the upcoming semester.

Academic Progress Standards
Level of Academic Success GPA Criteria
Good Standing Cumulative GPA is 2.00 or above
Academic Probation Cumulative GPA has dropped below 2.00
Continued Academic Probation Previously on Academic Probation and cumulative GPA is below 2.00, but current semester GPA is 2.00 or above
Academic Suspension Previously on Academic Probation or Continued Academic Probation and cumulative GPA is below 2.00 and current semester GPA is below 2.00

Students placed on Academic Suspension may get their "Hold" cleared, within 1-3 business days, after successfully completing the Academic Improvement Plan. The hold must be cleared prior to the first class day in order to be guaranteed enrollment in courses. Should there be any questions, contact Counseling and Student Accessibility Services at 956-872-2173.
